Biography

Robin Garcés-Marín, M.Sc. is a PhD student in Organization and Management at Emory University in Atlanta, USA, and an Associate Professor of the Department of Administrative Sciences at the Universidad de Antioquia, Colombia. His research focuses on the role of businesses in both creating and alleviating societal challenges, with a particular interest in how companies can innovate their business models to promote environmental sustainability and reduce poverty. Robin is also deeply interested in entrepreneurship as a tool for social mobility.
Since the beginning of his PhD studies, Robin has been involved in a research project examining how the efforts of coffee farmers are represented and valued within the Third Wave of Specialty Coffee movement. He is particularly interested in understanding where these narratives originate and the role of farmers in shaping them. Additionally, Robin has worked in projects related to sustainability and technology adoption, and underdog entrepreneurship.
